Are Psychology Services covered by medicare?
No. Private psychology services are not covered by medicare. However, many insurance plans (e.g., Blue Cross, Great West Life) will cover a portion of the fees. These plans can vary a great deal, so it is advisable to check your coverage before making your initial appointment.
Will my insurance cover psychological services?
Many private or employer provided insurance plans will cover a portion of the fees for psychological services provided by a Registered Psychologist or MSW. A typical plan will cover a percentage of the fees up to a certain amount. The percentage and maximum coverage varies from plan to plan. Some plans (e.g., AESBP) will cover a flat amount per session.
How do I know if my therapist is a Registered Psychologist?
Psychologists will have the letters “R.Psych” in the credentials behind their names. For example, Ph.D., R.Psych, or M.Sc., R.Psych. In some provinces, “C.Psych” is used instead (i.e., Certified Psychologist).
What is MSW?
MSW stands for Masters of Social Work, a professional degree in the field of Social Work. Some MSW programs have a focus on therapy.
Where are you located?
We are located in downtown Edmonton, in Suite 312, 9707 – 110 St. NW. Edmonton, AB. in the Ledgeview Business Centre. We are just north of the high level bridge.
How much does a session cost?
Most therapists in the Edmonton Psychological Group charge the rate recommended by the College of Alberta Psychologists which is $200 per 50 minute session.
How many sessions are typically needed?
The typical number of sessions can vary a great deal depending on the concerns present. It is a good idea to discuss this with your therapist on your first visit.
Is parking easy to find?
Parking is available on the streets around the building, and there is also Impark parking around the back of the building, and underground. Large vehicles might not fit in the underground parkade. Some of the street parking is free (especially a block or two away from the building), some of the spots are in city metered zones.
We are only a block away from the Grandin LRT station, so it is very convenient to come by public transportation.
